Custom dance floor. Their own marquee.
A dance floor built from scratch, a lounge branded head to toe, and a team that treats your kid’s theme like the main event. Minutes from Trumbull and Fairfield, under thirty from Westport, straight off the Merritt.
A room that becomes whatever your kid imagines.
Every other venue hands you their dance floor and their linens. The Knowlton hands you a blank canvas: a custom-printed dance floor, a lounge branded in your color story, an arcade room and a photo booth built around the theme, not bolted onto it.
One address, one unforgettable night.
Cocktail hour, the main event and the late night, each with its own energy, all without leaving the building.

The Cocktail Hour
Guests walk up to a bar branded in the theme before they even find their seats, colors and monogram on every glass.

The Party
The Boathouse turns into a dance floor built for a hundred kids at once, a video wall behind the DJ booth pushing the energy until the whole room is in it.

The Late Night
When the lights drop, the floor goes blacklight and the last hour becomes the one everybody actually talks about Monday morning.

Even the marquee spells out their name.
A few mitzvahs at The Knowlton.
One mitzvah, start to finish.
Eighty seconds. The service on the lawn, cocktails in the mural park, the MC on stage, and the Boathouse floor at sunset.
What families ask before they book.
How many guests can The Knowlton host for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah?
The Knowlton comfortably hosts Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations of 100 to 350 guests. Most families host in the 125 to 200 guest range, and the flexible layouts also work well for larger celebrations of 250 to 350 guests.
Will the event space feel too big for a mid-size Bar or Bat Mitzvah?
No. The spaces are designed to be reconfigured through layout, draping, lighting and furniture placement, so the room feels energetic and full rather than oversized, even at smaller guest counts.
Which space is best for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah?
Most Bar and Bat Mitzvahs take place in the Boathouse, the most flexible and popular of the three event spaces. Depending on size and flow, families often add the Wilder Gallery or Armstrong Gallery for a ceremony, cocktail hour, lounge or teen hangout area.
Can The Knowlton host a larger Bar or Bat Mitzvah of 250 to 350 guests?
Yes. For larger celebrations, The Knowlton combines multiple spaces or configures the Boathouse to hold the higher guest count while keeping the flow, dance floor energy and guest comfort strong.
Is there outdoor space for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah?
Yes. Some celebrations use the waterfront deck and outdoor areas for cocktail hour, photos or lounge moments, depending on the season and the event format.
Is kosher catering allowed?
Yes. Outside kosher caterers are welcome, and The Knowlton regularly hosts kosher and Orthodox celebrations. Speak with the team about specific requirements ahead of time so the day runs smoothly.
How much does it cost to host a Bar or Bat Mitzvah at The Knowlton?
Pricing is customized to the date, the spaces you use, your guest count and the overall scope of the celebration, so families receive a tailored proposal rather than a one-size-fits-all package. Tell us your date and guest count through the form on this page and the team will put a proposal together.
How far in advance should we book a Bar or Bat Mitzvah?
Most families book 12 to 18 months ahead, especially for peak spring and fall dates. Some dates open up closer to the event, so it is worth reaching out as soon as planning begins.
Can we do a candle lighting ceremony?
Yes, and it is one of the most common moments families plan here. For fire safety the venue does not permit open flames of any kind, so candle lightings use battery-operated LED candles, which photograph beautifully under the room lighting and remove any risk around a crowded floor.
Can we customize the lighting, decor and entertainment?
Yes. The Knowlton offers customizable lighting, sound, video walls and production options to match your theme, and the in-house team works closely with families to build a celebration that feels personal and high energy.
Is there parking for our guests?
Yes. The Knowlton has 200 secured on-site parking spaces. Parking attendants are required once about 50 or more vehicles are expected, and celebrations of 100 or more guests also require licensed security at one guard per 50 guests. Both are booked in addition to the rental, and the team can recommend approved providers.
How do we schedule a tour?
Use the inquiry form on this page to schedule a private tour. The team will walk you through the spaces, layout options and planning process.
Come see the room before you theme it.
Tell us the date, the guest count and the theme. We will walk you through the Boathouse and the galleries, including the one we turn into an arcade, and show you exactly how custom this gets.
