The Artist

Bridgeport-born illustrator and painter with a Bridgeport Art Trail award named in his honor.

Ricky is a Puerto Rican artist born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. At the University of Bridgeport he majored in Illustration and took courses in Theater and Photography. He keeps his studio on the third floor.

He has curated shows for galleries across Bridgeport and mentored students at Bassick High School. His painting A Scout Is Proud ran in The New York Times in 2013 as part of SameSex, the show he launched at City Lights Gallery. In 2024 the Bridgeport Art Trail created the Ricky Mestre Artist Serving Community Award in his name.
